Set in the dry-tropics, The Burdekin is a wonderland home to astounding wetlands.
But, where is the Burkedin?
We could say it is an hour's drive south of Townsville and an hour's drive north of Bowen, but let’s use another stunning natural location marker: the Burdekin River.
We build our lives alongside the largest river system (by volume) and the second most economically important river in Australia. The district is located and generously nourished by the mouth and the surrounding delta of this life supporting water body.
The Burdekin community comprises the larger twin-towns of Ayr and Home Hill, the centres of Brandon, Giru, Clare, Milaroo and Dalbeg and no less than thirty-two smaller and uniquely significant townships and establishments.
