Re:Collections Photographic Exhibition

  • Re:Collections UPFront 93 Queen Street Ayr, QLD, 4807 Australia (map)

Re:Collections Photographic Exhibition captures locally held vintage fashion styled in the context of the Burdekin, featuring the work of photographer David Fell and made possible through immense community participation.

Our time-travelling catwalk will explore the intersection of fashion with traditional origins, Lifestyle, Industry, Food and Landscape that spans our cultural history.

From aprons and house frocks to intricate ball gowns, we showcase the Burdekin’s precious collection of vintage fashion to tell a story of our cultural history.

As one of the world’s most celebrated fashion photographers, Helmut Newton said, “I think fashion photography is almost a social document that will take you back. The older it gets, the more interesting it is.” These images will hang alongside actual garments from as far back as 1932 and give our audience a chance to reflect on the lives of their wearer and the time in which they were worn.

This exhibition is a sneak peek inside a collection of imagery we are collating and collecting for a limited release book, to be published in the future.
