UPStitch: Refashioning textiles of the past
Join renowned fashion designer Lydia Pearson and artist Shilo Engelbrecht for a makers workshop with a difference.
Often tucked away at the back of drawers, participants are invited to bring in family crocheted tablecloths, throws, runners, fabrics, doilies and more. Collectively a new creation will be fabricated, and exhibited as part of our popup gallery in Re:Collections UPFront on Queen Street.
Delta at Dusk
Delta at Dusk is an annual event that melds three of life’s greatest ecstasies; music, food and fashion.
We have invited a chorus of celebrated Australian musicians to join us at our inaugural Delta at Dusk. Join us for Storychords with Clea, Kate Martin and Dan Baker.
Yarn Sessions
We are all storytellers and you’ll be astounded by the incredible yarns that are just waiting to be told about the Burdekin. We’ll supply the couch; the peach blossoms and cannoli, you bring the yarns.

Burdekin Angles and Aspects Exhibition
Benny Anderson is a cracking street photographer and was the sharp eye behind many of our behind-the-scenes photoshoot images. His new project Burdekin Angles and Aspects is part of our Re:Collections UPFront Window Trail.
Come behind the scenes and delve into the angles and aspects of the ‘everyday’ around the Burdekin.
Re:Collections UPFront Space
Can you really know a regional town until you’ve stepped out on the high street?
We are showcasing the creativity of the back room and putting it right UPFront in our pop-up gallery and creators’ space which will be open to the public for two weeks.
Toad Busting Exhibition
This exhibition is presented in collaboration with VERMIN and fights the war on cane toads by transforming these toxic invaders into bespoke designs and chic fashion.
VERMIN is a collaboration between Lia Tabrah from Melbourne and Torres Strait Islander, Perina Drummond, who invited Melbourne-based designers and artists to create custom bespoke designs from cane toad skin. Think tropical Mad Max, Australian 80s grunge and apocalypse chic.
Re:Collections Photographic Exhibition
Re:Collections Photographic Exhibition captures locally held vintage fashion styled in the context of the Burdekin, featuring the work of photographer David Fell and made possible through immense community participation.
These time-travelling images explore the intersection of fashion with traditional orgins, Lifestyle, Industry, Food and Landscape that spans our cultural history.
Re:Collections of the North a Writers Workshop
Calling on the ghosts from our ancestors, the skeletons in the cupboard, and any old wives' or clans and tribes with tales. Our goal is to explore and create a collection of local yarns.
